Ulrich studied mechanical engineering, majoring in production technology at Leibniz Universität Hannover and graduating in 1984. He then completed a Ph.D. in Engineering at Production Technology Centre Hannover with a dissertation on knowledge-based production control.
Ulrich spent 7 years in various posts in management consultancy and software distribution, including at US technology conglomerate Texas Instruments. He moved into executive search in 1998, working first for MSL Management Selection for 5 years, then as a freelance executive search and management consultant for 7 years, both in Düsseldorf. He joined Amrop in 2010.
Ulrich’s consulting practice encompasses executive search for top management levels in automotive, engineered products & systems engineering, cleantech, transport & logistics, retail and professional services. He also provides consulting services for company executives in change situations. His work focuses on intervention and success assurance in management crises, management audit, establishing systematic management development activities, designing and introducing efficient business processes and lean corporate structures.
Ulrich is a Co-Leader of Amrop’s Global Automotive & Industrial Practice.
Ulrich is an honorary professor at Leibniz Universität Hannover. His personal interests include motorbikes, skiing, cars and travel.
